Here we have a very classy and very elegant table radio. The 1937 Air Castle model 14-136EA. This set has it all; Extreme Art Deco design, emerald green tuning eye, large bright dial, AM broadcast and Shortwave bands.
Cabinet: The streamline designed cabinet is in remarkable condition. The flowing curves on this set make it a real ’eye catcher’. The beautiful dark walnut wood compliments the bright green tuning eye magnificently. Just a stunning sight! The Art Deco grill and black claw feet finish this set off with the utmost style and class. This beauty is sure to be the highlight of any room in the home or office you choose to display it in. Please email me to see photos with Zoom Views. Be sure to view my other Radio Auctions!
The Cabinet’s Finish: All of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The process is finished off with a three step polishing process with a final Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into these cabinets but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful cabinet with a silk smooth finish and gorgeous luster & shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the house or office.
Dial/Knobs/Tuning Eye: The large black dial is in excellent shape, and quite the attention getter. It lights nice and bright with all numbers and letters legible and showing very little to no signs of wear. The bright green tuning eye not only looks spectacular but also serves a purpose. The eye turns a darker green as you tune the station to its strongest reception point for pin point tuning accuracy. All three knobs are in superb condition. They are secure, turn nice and smooth, and work as they should (on/off -volume, band switch, and tuning)
Electronics/Chassis: The 6 tube (including eye tube) chassis is in great condition. The set plays excellent on both AM & Shortwave bands producing lots of volume, rich warm tone, sensitive reception and no hum. All of our sets chassis’s are thoroughly cleaned, lubed and realigned. All tubes, caps and resistors are tested and replaced as needed. I will include a 30 day warranty on the tubes, caps and filters.
Dimensions: 18”W x 10 ¼”H x 6 ½“D.
Approximate Shipping cost: $38 East Coast, $47 Central, $55 West Coast.
