Lot of 11 totally original paper items from a late 1920s - early 1940s Mobile Alabama music store: brochures, small catalogs, pamphlets, advertising cards, broadsides (printed 1 side), broadsheets (printed 2 sides), flyers, etc.
NONE OF THESE ITEMS ARE PAGES TORN FROM magazines, newspapers or catalogs = every item was a separately printed piece published/printed on its own.
Condition is generally VG. But see descriptions below on specific items where there might be a MINOR problem.
1. Polk Musical Supply Co., Atlanta Georgia, ca. 1937, EASTER SPECIALS, 8 page, 9x12 inch mailed catalog or illustrated price list of (mostly) acoustical phonograph replacement parts: tone arms, reproducers, spring motors, governor screws & springs, speed tester, etc. Printed in green ink. VERY GOOD
2. Favorite Manufacturing Co. largest phonograph house in the world, offering wind-up portable phono for $5.00 + various phono parts including a Victrola Reproducer for 75 cents (or, in lots of 12, for 60 cents each) + guitars and a miniature organ on the last page. Illustrated. 4 pages. Tiny chip at bottom edge of cover, not affecting any text. Otherwise VERY GOOD.
3. One page green ink broadside for Brite-Rite Polish to be used on musical instruments. "Keeps Musical Instruments Beautiful." Nice
4. One page red mimeo price list dated May 1937 from Favorite Musical Supply Co., with their separately printed order blank attached with paper clip. Order blank never used. Promoting their harmonica selection, valve oil, their bass stand, guitar picks, their "Favorite" Concert Guitar, and their "101" Guitar, etc. Folded twice where originally put in an envelope for mailing.
5. Small 6 page catalog & price list from H. Behlen & Brother "Stain List 1A" featuring their powder and liquid stains for pianos and organs. Fine condition. Detailed.
6. On yellow paper and printed in red & black, a 9x12 inch broadsheet (printed 2 sides) from Selmer, in Elkhart Indiana, featuring their squadron drum, their Esquire Guitar, the Kay Junior Masrimba, the 30-W Deagan Vibraharp, the Electric Kay Guitar, Ocarinas, the No. 40 Deagan 4 Octave Marimba, etc. This was their Christmas Flyer. Worn with some very short tears or splits at edges.
7. Two page (with page 1 on Goldenrod color paper) mid-1930s mimeo price list of mostly smaller instruments from Favorite Musical Supply Co., Inc.: Autoharps, Banjo Heads, U S Regulation Bugles, Fifes, Guitars #s 306, 5027 & 101; Harmonicas (various prices - not readily identified except by different price ranges), Kazoos, Pop Eye Pipes, (and on page 2) Gut Strings, Shastock Trumpet Mutes, Violins and accessories & parts for same, etc. LIGHTLY WORN. 2 pages stapled.
8. THREE NEW VIOLIN NECESSITIES, illustrated price leaflet catalog, 4 pages, for violin chin rest, shoulder pad and flannel chin rest cover; illustrated & priced. Small leaflet from the Chicago Musical Instrument Co.
9. One page mimeo price list (with brief descriptiond) of ORTHOPHONIC, Columbia & Brunswick Reproducers, single-spaced, numbered, described and priced. From the Favorite Manufacturing Co. in NYC. A tad blurry at top where company's name & address is but all the info for reproducers prints fine.
10. Favorite Manufacturing Co., Manufacturers and Distributors of Phonograph, Radio Supplies and Musical Merchandise. Mimeo one page wholesale confidential price list of PORTABLE PHONOGRAPHS, mimeographed in red ink. Lists 6 acoustic / wind-up phonos (ranging in price from $4.75 to $10.80) + 2 Electric portable phonographs ($13.75 and $24.50) as well as giving all the different colors in which the ACOUSTIC phonos were available. Interesting - 1 short old crease else near fine.
11. Oversized 6 page folding brochure, illustrated, offering various types of children's TOY CHROMOMATIC xylophones accompanied by instruction books. approx. 10x14 page sizes, printed in black & red. Photographed, described and priced. A few minor splits at old folds else near VG.
NOTE: some of my scans may have what appear to be scratches and/or pencil scribbles but in actuality those are scratches on the glass bed of my scanner.
