Hi! You're looking at a great condition book which is one of the greatest novels by the Nobel Prize-winning Southern author WILLIAM FAULKNER--the book is a HARDCOVER with the ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET and is NOT a remainder copy and NOT price-clipped, with the original $4.95 price in the upper corner of the front inner flap. The book is a former library copy with fewer markings than is typical and a removed blank last page and a mylar plastic sleeve on the jacket, which is attached to the boards. The book has light reading wear and a bit of shelfwear on the edges of the cover, and the jacket has light shelfwear on the plastic and a slight bit of wrinkling under the plastic on the back surface. The book is titled As I Lay Dying and it was written by WILLIAM FAULKNER; it was published by Random House in 1964 and is a 3rd Printing copy which has been corrected in accordance with the original manuscript and typescript, and entirely reset.
One of William Faulkner’s finest novels, As I Lay Dying was originally published in 1930 and remains a captivating and stylistically innovative work. The story revolves around a grim yet darkly humorous pilgrimage, as Addie Bundren’s family sets out to fulfill her last wish: to be buried in her native Jefferson, Mississippi, far from the miserable backwater surroundings of her married life. Told through multiple voices, it vividly brings to life Faulkner’s imaginary South, one of literature’s great invented landscapes, and is replete with the poignant, impoverished, violent, and hypnotically fascinating characters that were his trademark.
A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this book!
