An MP3-CD looks just like a regular compact disc; in fact, it is a regular CD. The difference is in how the data is formatted on the disc. The MP3 data has been compressed to fit the whole book onto one or two discs. MP3-CDs can be loaded to your iPod, iPad, iPhone or just about any smart phone with an MP3 player. I listen to my books on my iPhone and absolutely love it.
Most computer CD drives will recognize and play MP3-CDs; but in order for your personal CD player to recognize the MP3 data, it must be MP3 compatible. If your player is a newer model, it may be MP3 compatible. But if your player is an older model, chances are that it isn't MP3 compatible. Check your owner's manual to see if your CD player is MP3 compatible. I can't play an MP3-CD in my vehicle CD player since it isn't MP3 compatible. But I can listen to my books in my vehicle with the help of a FM transmitter, a cassette adapter or simply by using the speaker on my iPhone. If you listen to a lot of audio books, like I do; you might want to give some thought into switching to the MP3-CDs. The MP3 formatted audio books are a lot cheaper than the regular CD books. Over time, you could save enough on books to pay for a MP3 compatible device!
